One of the fastest-growing regional districts in British Columbia is Fraser Valley Regional District.
The FVRD has a population of 295,934 people (2016 census) in six municipalities and 8 electoral areas. Economically, the area has grown around resource extraction, specifically farming, logging and gravel mining. Much of the Fraser Valley land base is within the Agricultural Land Reserve (ALR). The balance, not privately owned, is in Crown Lands.
The fastest-growing industries are housing demand, the built environment, health care, municipal services, and the provision of public transit.
